











Slovakia off the beaten path tour
Bratislava - Banská Bystrica - High Tatras - Jelšava - Košice - Svidník - Prešov - Bardejov - Košice
· 18.3. Meet and greet, welcome to Bratislava, Slovakia- the country that gained independence from the Soviet Union in 1989, and the place where our company understan is from. To start in the afternoon, we will go on a little excursion to the city center. We will visit the Central Station and Rača Train Station, and Bratislava Castle one of the most beautiful Slovakian castles.

Today will have a look at the Soviet architecture pieces like the Slovak Radio Building or the upside-down pyramid, Hotel Kyjev, Freedom Square, the Slavín WW2 memorial overlooking the city, the UFO observation deck, and also we will discover the local mosaics. We will visit the biggest residential area in Central Europe, Petržalka, built in the 80s with Soviet residential houses called “paneláky”. We will have dinner in the local restaurant here.
· 20.3. On the second day, we will go more underground. First, we will visit the UFO statue in Vrakuňa part of the city and the Kamzík TV tower, 211 meters high, followed by a little trek to the rocket base guarding the border at Devinska Kobyla, just 2 kilometers from the Austrian border - the historical western border of the Eastern Bloc. After this, we will drive to the center of the country and the city of Banská Bystrica. After we arrive, we will have a look at the city center.
· 21.3. Today we will visit the brutalist gems. Slovak National Uprising was planned the rebellion against Nazis leading the country. There are monuments specially built for this event, and we will visit them. Also, we will visit the SNP museum, which is one of the most beautiful brutalist buildings of the cities in Slovakia. Afternoon, we will head to the village of Telgárt in the Low Tatras mountains. We will visit a beautiful 100-year-old still functional viaduct in the Slovak countryside. Dinner at Traditional “Koliba” with local products. Overnight in Poprad.
· 22.3. Heading to Strbské Pleso and the abandoned ski jump place from the 70s, built for the World Ski Championship, followed by a visit to Hotel Panorama, designed by Zdenek Rihaak, opened in 1970 for this event. Next stop is the town of Revúca for beautiful mosaics and Jelšava, which is the most underdeveloped part of Slovakia. The pollution, because of the magnesium plant, which has been located here for over 50 years, is still present. The city has a very authentic atmosphere. Overnight in Rožňava.
· 23.3. Today we will visit the second biggest city in Slovakia - Košice. We start at the biggest Romani community in Slovakia, Lunix IX. Crumbling concrete apartments, but vibrant Romani atmosphere. Next stop is the city of Košice, the second biggest after Bratislava. At the Dargov Pass on the very east of the country, we will stop at the heroes’ memorial. Drive to Svidník through the sleepy town of Michalovce near the Ukrainian border. Here we will visit the Military Museum and the Soviet Army Monument.
· 24.3. In the morning, we will drive to the historical spa town of Bardejov with its beautiful architecture, located in the mountains, followed by a drive to the third biggest city, Prešov. This industrial city has a lot to offer - we will have a look at the Soviet wedding venue and the District Office building. Afternoon, we will have a walk to the Prešov viewpoint, followed by the city center explorations. Last dinner and overnight in Prešov.
